What are bearings and why are they so important?

The selection of a bearing should depend on its operating conditions. Among other things, you should take into account:

• the type of load (axial, radial, complex),
• rotational speed,
• operating temperature,
• method of lubrication,
• accuracy of installation,
• access to the installation site.

An improperly selected bearing can quickly fail, leading to costly machine downtime.

Each bearing has a manufacturer's marking on the ring. The code contains information about:

• series and dimensions of the bearing,

• internal clearance,

Although individual manufacturers use their own labeling modifications, most codes remain universal and easy to decipher.
